Listen to “Here As In Heaven” by Elevation Worship
I want to start this with a couple of scriptures. I have highlighted the parts of the scripture that I want to draw focus to, but I really didn’t want to leave the rest out. So as you read, turn your focus to God the Spirit living inside of you, and how He has been and is perfecting you into His very image.
2 Corinthians 3:15-18 Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
Romans 8:11-17 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. 12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. 14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to son-ship. 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
When we accept Jesus as our Savior, the Holy Spirit then dwells in us. Because of the Holy Spirit, there is a new transformation about us. And there is a continuing transformation throughout our lives until we go home to be with the Lord one day, and there we are perfect. That transformation, and the effects of it is the evidence of the Spirit living in us.
I said all of that because I think of the evidence in each of us individually, and then I think of us coming together as a body, walking in the Spirit, and how much greater God’s evidence is among us as a whole. When we come together to worship in praise, and in hearing the Word of the Lord, and in crying out and seeking His face it’s a beautiful thing. As a body, God uses us to build one another. We have wisdom, words, works, and many things to share with our brothers and sisters that are fruits of the Holy Spirit living in us.
Hebrews 10:23-25 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
I guess today I am not trying to write some great devotional to go with this song. I’m praising God for His truth in my life, and in lives of brother’s and sister’s around me. And I’m praising God that each person can come to that truth. Each person can be transformed, just as I have been transformed. I praise God that I am not the same person that I used to be. And I thank Him that I am ever changing, and being guided to new seasons of growth and new life because of His Spirit living and breathing in me!
Because He lives in me, and I seek Him and know Him; I know that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He reveals Himself to us, He speaks to us and through us, He moves mountains and hearts. The evidence from within us cannot be ignored, and it cannot be forgotten that our God is alive in and among us! We need Him, because without Him we are lost; but with Him, we are surrounded by His perfect love. His love casts out all fear, rights our wrongs, forgives; His love flows from the Spirit within us. And the world around us needs His love to flow out from within us right in to each lost heart.
Matthew 6:10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Lord, You are good, and I am thankful for Your Spirit living in me. I pray to be renewed each day. Lord, I need you. “Spirit of God fall fresh on us, we need Your presence. Overflow in this place, fill our hearts with Your love. Your love surrounds us. Your the reason we came, to encounter Your love… Your kingdom come, Your will be done here as in heaven”. Amen
