Listen to “Hills and Valleys” by Tauren Wells
I praise You on the mountain tops and I praise You in the valleys.
I’m sure we all wish life was just one giant mountain top that we never have to climb up to get to the top, and that we never have to come down from. On the mountain top, everything is smooth flowing and worry free. It’s easy to praise the Lord from this view, but it’s also easy to forget the Lord when everything is handed to us on a silver platter. We might forget that it is He who put us there in the first place. And we might start to think we can handle life on our own.
But life is not like that. Life is full of ups and downs. Regardless of the season that we are in, be it the mountain top or the valley, God’s hand is in it all. When we are on the mountain tops, it is because He helped us get there. And when we are in the valleys, He is right there with us, holding us and opening our eyes to His love and mercy.
Isaiah 54:10 “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.
Whatever season we find ourselves in we need to give thanks and praise! God is good and His mercy and love endures forever.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 92:1-2 It is good to give thanks to the Lord and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; 2 To declare Your loving kindness in the morning and Your faithfulness by night
Lord, You are good and Your loving kindness endures forever. You are faithful on the mountain tops and in the valleys below. I have nothing to worry about, because You are good yesterday, today, and forever. I ask that when I am in the valley, You will help me trust You. Please help me to trust that Your plan is always good. And help me to remember that Your kingdom is bigger than me, and that my time in the valley could very well witness to another life whether I ever see it or not. And when I am on the mountain top, help me not to forget that I am only there because of You. I praise You, Lord, and thank You for each season of life that I face. You are always good! I love You, Lord. Amen.
