Do you  ever feel like there is so much you would like to do in life on behalf of God? Or do you ever feel like there is so much you want to say, whether encouraging or reprimanding? But deep down, you know it’s not the right time or place… or it’s just not your place. I know I do. Instead of jumping right in, I step back from the situation, take it all in, evaluate and pray.

When I was younger, I wished that I had the right and the courage to speak out when I felt like I needed to. Even still, I just really don’t like to say anything unless I am “in the position” to be the one speaking. It feels to me as if I would be stepping on someone’s toes. Or maybe deep down I know that speaking out would only gratify me and not help the others involved.

I don’t know about you, but I do not like to be out of line, and I do not want to overstep my authority. Also, I really don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable or hurt someone’s feelings. I need to know that I know that I am in the right, and that I have the right before I go running my mouth or my actions. Most of the time, I know that it is not my job or my business to open my mouth just because I have an opinion or a strong feeling. Can you relate?

I believe that most of the time when we feel the need to “act” based on our strong feelings, that it is not based on love and edification, but on self gratification. It feels good and right to us in the moment, but may have lasting negative results.

Say this out loud, “IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT ME!” If we aren’t directly part of the cause or the solution, then we are just a bystander with an opinion. Not everything that we (THINK) we know about is our business. It is God’s business to deal with in His way and in His timing. God will reveal His wisdom, words, and direction to those who need it. And the choice is for those involved to take heed or not. Whether they do what they are supposed to with it or not is not our problem, our business, or ours to judge…  We must be still and trust God’s good plan.

Psalm 46:10   He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

However, even though these situations that we feel strongly about are God’s business, they are brought to our attention, or laid on our heart for a reason. These specific things that we are aware of and feel strongly about shouldn’t be tossed around out into the open on a whim. I believe that because we are  aware, we need to pray and intercede. And I don’t mean pray for an opening to speak our minds or do whatever we want to do about it. I mean selflessly pray over the situation and each one involved with a loving heart. And if more doors open along the way to be a shoulder to cry on, to speak a word, to move a mountain, or whatever; then we will know in our hearts because we have already been seeking God.

Psalm 143:10   Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
So whether God prompts us to speak up or calls us to be silent in prayer, we can do it in peace because we know that He is good, and as we seek Him daily He prepares and readys us.
Are you preparing to be used whether in stillness or boldness?
Next week I will be posting more about readying ourselves for God.

Let’s Pray

Lord, I love You. You are good and Your plan is perfect. I know that you want to use me. And I know there are times You want me to step out and times You want me to be still. I don’t want to fail You, I want to be obedient because I am Yours. Your will is my will. Please help me not to react to situations on a whim based on my emotions. But help me to take everything to prayer and seek Your will and peace. Help me to think of others in each situation rather than my own edification. Lord, I am Your child, and I thank You for wanting to use me. Today, I surrender myself to Your undying plan. I am Your creation, and I can do all things through You alone who is my strength. Amen.
