Come Rushing In
Listen to “Come Rushing In ” by Dustin Smith
As humans, made up of body, soul, and spirit; we have a need for something spiritual in our lives whether we realize it or not. We want something to believe in, to define our person, and to fulfill us. Some people try to fill this void with fleshly pleasures, some with a type of religion, some are forever searching for “something” but just not finding it, and some find a relationship with Jesus.
There is only One who can give us this fulfillment that we need. And that is Jesus. When we find (accept) Jesus and place our hearts and lives in His care our search is over. As we seek Him daily by reading the Bible, praying, and living our lives unto Him; we build a connection that is deeper and greater than any other. And even though our search is over and we are fulfilled; the more we know Him, the more we love and want Him in our lives. We want to surrender more of ourselves to Him, and we want to serve Him in everything that we do. To see, feel, and hear Him in every part of our lives… how beautiful.
Psalm 73:25-26 Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. 26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
I love to sing praises to and of my Jesus, and dance around, celebrating Him. And I love to pray and shout out words of love and adoration as I spend time seeking Him getting to know Him through His Word. It’s so important to me to lift my heart up to Him in deliberate times of prayer, giving thanks and making requests known to Him (even though He already knows). For me personally, these are times of deeper intimacy with my Lord (not that these are the only ways).
The Holy Spirit is always with us after we accept Jesus, but there are times, I believe, when we can sense His presence more powerfully than others. It’s not about music, the atmosphere, our current circumstances; it’s about the attitude of our hearts. Do we want deeper intimacy? Are we desperate for more? Do we want it enough to let go of our own selves and seek out daily time to spend with Him?
Deuteronomy 4:29 But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.
The Spirit of the Lord may have found a home in me, but I don’t just want to leave Him sitting around while I live my own life. I want Him rushing in and through every aspect of my life as I live and breathe. It’s the Holy Spirit’s guidance that makes us thrive, not our own agendas! I know that we can’t live this life on our own, we need to know that we need God in our lives.
Are you desperate for Jesus? Do you want the Holy Spirit rushing in and through your life? Seek Him today.
Jesus, You are wonderful, I adore You and need You. I pray that we become desperate for You. We need you rushing through every part of our lives. For this reason, Lord, please call on us. Tug on our hearts each day. And Please help us to each have a personal desire to seek after You, not because we are forced, but because it comes from our own hearts. Help us to remember that we already have all of You, and that it is all of us that needs handed over piece by piece to become more and more intimate with You. You are so good to us; gracious and compassionate. Thank You so much for loving us and giving us the opportunity to know You personally. I love You, Father. Amen.
