Romans 8:38-39

I Belong

Listen to “I Belong” performed by Kathryn Scott, written by Kathryn Scott & Mildred Rainey

When I worship with this song I just melt every time. It truly brings me to my knees. The promise from God that nothing can separate us from His love…it’s humbling, and fills me with gratitude and praise. If that was the only thing out of His word that I knew, it would be enough to turn me to Him and to seek after Him. I would have to think, “Who is this great and powerful God, who loves ME?” It’s like this song speaks from the depths of my heart. Nothing can separate me from the great love of my God. And for that, I give myself lowly and fully to Him.

Romans 8:35-39   Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?36 As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long;
    we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

What does it really mean to belong to God; to Jesus? I’ll be writing more about that this week.
